Is it a puzzle? Is it a model? Is it a toy? Yes!
This authentic model is based on a Land Rover series 1 (107 wheelbase) circa 1956.
Each hand-crafted model consists of 28 wooden parts which must be assembled to create the model shown.
But beware - the parts don't clip together; they merely stand on top of each other, so the puzzle can be taken apart and restarted easily. Once completed, the models stand square and steady, a testimony to the craftmanship involved in making them.
Several adults have started the puzzle under the assumption that it might be easy, and in the first stages it is. However after a while, most have resorted to head-scratching and consultation of their nearest available picture of a Land Rover.
The model is made from Sapele wood, and is supplied untreated, meaning the customer can decide on any paintwork that they might like. As with all Land Rover products, the customer has a choice.
The model kit includes the wooden pieces, an instruction pamphlet, and is supplied in a CKD ('Completely Knocked Down') format crate.
The Sepele wood used in the main body parts is purchased from a renewable managed forest. The wheels are Maple, and the chassis is Birch ply. Each kit has its own unique chassis number, using the same system land Rover use. We hope you enjoy the puzzle and welcome any feedback you may have. We will be adding to the range in the future, so keep an eye on the website for more details
Care has been taken to ensure that the model is 'anatomically correct'. Here's a schematic digram taken from the original brochure for the Land Rover model.
